Workshop with DEOs and Block and District Mentors | Punjab
At ShikshaLokam, we have always believed that motivated leaders can drive transformation. In this edition of our newsletter, we feel privileged to share the story of such leaders from Punjab. Meet Mr. Rajesh Jain, Ms. Nirmal Kaur and Ms. Bindu Gulati - the State Resource Persons and Ms. Amandeep Kaur - the Nodal Officer.
They felt that there was a need to define and have a shared understanding of the roles of instructional leaders (Block & District Mentors) and District Education Officers (DEOs) and how they support schools. Since an important aspect of the BMs, DMs and DEOs day is regular school visits, our leaders revisited the structure of these daily visits and redefined the process to reduce the burden of admin tasks. They brainstormed, created an observation form that would help everyone derive rich insights on what needs improvement and uploaded them on the Darpan app, powered by ShikshaLokam. Next, in a series of capacity building sessions, the app and the form were introduced to all. Mr. Krishan Kumar, Hon. Education Secretary of Punjab lauded the efforts and said, "This digital process and a new form will help BMs and DMs to have focused mentoring conversations with teachers in schools."
Those you see in the images are the Block Mentors and District Mentors of Punjab, engaged in conversations around the new observation form and familiarise themselves with the app. Over 2200 instances of schools visits were recorded within a week's time.
These transformational efforts are being enabled by the PMU team at Punjab - Saanjhi Sikhya, Samarthaya, and Mantra4Change - supported by ShikshaLokam. The energy observed in these system leaders is very inspiring. Connect with us to know more and/ or to be part of this phenomenal opportunity in Punjab.
